Hi all,
Progress! but we’re not there yet.
No word from Granite, but Wes (Granite employee and skid steer volunteer) says: “Yes maybe go up there today, I know they had a motorgrader go down and had to get a new one but just got it yesterday.”
So I’ll go by today and talk to Granite about the grading.
After all is said and done (so far), we still have about $1,500 in the bank. Here’s a little more of my texts with Wes this morning:

Dan F Kuehn:
It looks like we have enough left in the bank for 4 or 5 more loads from MTC. Should we go for it? If so, where to put them?
Wes Chapman:
Honestly I say hold on to it for now, let’s get the blade on it, roll it then get through the winter. Hopefully come spring we will have enough donated to get another 15-20 loads to really build the road up
I think just putting a few loads now won’t do much help
Dan F Kuehn:
Ok
Wes Chapman:
That’s just my opinion
Dan F Kuehn:
Sounds good to me. Have you talked to Branden since the weekend?
Wes Chapman:
Yes but we had the blade go down mechanically so that’s why they haven’t sent it yet but you might stop by and remind them
Dan F Kuehn:
Will do

SO – After the grading, we’ll rent a roller to pack it all down to force the smaller rocks into the road.
If you’re feeling able-bodied enough, after the blade there may be a few larger rocks remaining in the road. Feel free to toss them to the side. When all is done and done, it’ll be interesting to come out with a shovel and hoe in the next rain to see what the water wants to do.
We’ve done all this without forming an HOA (evil?), but we have done something together. Just for fun, and to pat ourselves on our backs, here’s a list of the individual donations:

I’m heading over to Granite to see what’s up this morning.
I’ll post a bunch of photos of the work, before, during, and after, to the website, pinabete.us .
Also – Sounds like the newspaper is interested in our story…
As always,
Dan
