Hi all,
We’re in the middle of it now. Feel the patience and gratitude washing over you…
Here’s the thing about the skid steer I didn’t understand. I thought that by renting the skid steer on Saturday for 8 hours that we’d get a bonus day, but that ain’t how it works.
You rent it for an 8-hour day. There’s a timer… Wes gave us 8 good hours today and he’ll need a second 8 hours on Sunday. That’s another $350… We need more money for that…
Any extra will go to touchups, and the various spectacular quagmires above the ditch, but for the moment we’re focused on the bottom half-mile that we all drive.
Just so you know, the skid steer isn’t the last step. We still hope to get some grading gratis from Granite. Go Granite!
AND THEN, we’ll rent a roller (another $200-300) to pack it all down to keep us going for another season or two.
I didn’t take any pictures today, but if I did, they’d be of
bringing we a Den Special from the Wildcat,
filling in potholes with Joe,
analyzing the physics of flow dynamics as relates to the introduction of water to the side or middle of Llano Rod by Coyote Road,
the muddy material from Red River after the rain last night,
filling in the deep holes with big rocks,
digging out giant rocks with an iron bar,
greeting motorists on the road,
getting a few more addresses for this email list, and
riding on the back of Joe’s 4-wheeler.
I’ll definitely get pictures tomorrow…
We’re still accepting donations for
more material
fuel
equipment rentals and
unexpected expenses
Thanks to all,
Dan
